This set includes our Uillean starter set, rosewood chanter, and 3 drone set in blackwood.
Regulators may be added later if you like, and you may switch out later for the blackwood keyed chanter.
Minor differences in reeds can have a dramatic effect on how your pipes sound. Therefore, we include 2 of each type of reed in the set.
If you need extra reeds you may purchase these at checkout.
The Chanter comes with two reeds and plays two octaves from Low to high D.
This set comes with a rosewood chanter without keys. This comes also with a mouthpiece so you can practice without the bag and bellows, but it plugs in to the bag and bellows as well.
Note: The uillean set contains some blackwood and some rosewood parts. The large stock where the drones attach to the bag as well as the sides of the bellows are rosewood due to the high cost and unavailability of blackwood in pieces this large. The parts that attach to the chanter are blackwood.
The bag and bellows are made of synthetic material to keep the pipes airtight. Leather would breathe and would have to be sealed periodically with bag seal. Great Highland pipes benefit from breathing due to the saliva that ends up in the bag and therefore do better with a leather bag to let this moisture out. Since the uilleanns are powered by a bellows we can avoid having to use a sealer by using the synthetic bag.
