The Uilleann Starter Set includes the Bellows, Bellows Connector, and Reservoir Bag. This Set Requires a Chanter (sold separately).
Note: The uillean starter set contains some blackwood and some rosewood parts. The large stock where the drones attach to the bag as well as the sides of the bellows are rosewood due to the high cost and unavailability of blackwood in pieces this large. The parts that attach to the chanter are blackwood.
The bag and bellows are made of synthetic material to keep the pipes airtight. Leather would breathe and would have to be sealed periodically with bag seal. Great Highland pipes benefit from breathing due to the saliva that ends up in the bag and therefore do better with a leather bag to let this moisture out. Since the uilleanns are powered by a bellows we can avoid having to use a sealer by using the synthetic bag.
A chanter plugs in to this set to make the complete Uilleann Starter Set. You may choose between the rosewood or the blackwood chanters. (see our other listings for these). The rosewood chanter has a mouthpiece so it can be used to practice alone.
